CITY WATER AND SEWERREFUSE PICK-UP
Water, Sewer and Refuse is billed four (4) times a year at the beginning of each quarter. Billing is done as follows: Water: Ready to serve charge = $ 7.60 Every 1,000 gallons of water + 1.30 Sewer: Ready to serve charge = $ 12.10 Every 1,000 gallons of water + 3.05 * Add water Bond debt of $14.27 to the water/sewer/refuse bill Refuse: Per quarter = $34.00 At the end of each quarter the water meters will be read by our Department of Public Works. Bills will be calculated and mailed, due within 30 days of mailing. Refuse, Garbage, and Rubbish is picked up each Tuesday beginning at 7:00 a.m.. Hudson Code Section 9.6 Placement of collection: a. On the day the collections of garbage, refuse or rubbish is scheduled for any premises, or not earlier than 6:00 p.m. of the day before the collection is scheduled, all garbage, refuse, and rubbish shall be placed at its designated pickup place and in accordance with such regulations as may be adopted by the city council. b. If for any reason whatsoever such garbage, refuse or rubbish is not picked up or collected as schedules, the owner or occupant of the premises upon which the garbage, refuse or rubbish has been placed or the person placing same on any premises shall, not later than 6:00 p.m. of the day after the collection was scheduled, pick up such garbage, refuse or rubbish and store it in an approved manner until it can be collected.
Each household may place up to 8 plastic bags out at the curb each week. For larger items we have a spring and fall pickup. Those dates are advertised prior to pickup. When thinking about what you can place at the curb for the spring and fall pickup, the items have to be sized so that two men can handle them. Items must be placed at the curb, by 8:00 A.M. the day of, and no earlier than seven days before the pickup date. Limbs, boards, etc, must be cut in (4) foot lengths and tied. Plaster or items of loose nature must be placed in boxes or other containers that will hold up for proper loading. NO vehicle tires will be picked up. NO refrigerators will be picked up unless CFC chemicals have been removed and the appliance company that removed the CFC chemical applies a sticker. NO acidic batteries will be picked up.
We also offer the option of recycling, bins are available at City Hall. REMEMBER: Refuse pickup is limited to residents of Hudson only. A penalty will be charged if rubbish from outside the City is found being brought into the City.
HAVE A PET!Hudson does have a leash ordinance, animals must be on a leash or tied unless in a kennel or fenced in area. Also dogs must be licensed. Dog licenses can be obtained at City Hall from December 1 to March 1 and the rest of the year they may be obtained at the Lenawee County Court House. To obtain this license you must have proof of the dogs rabies shot.
GARAGE SALEHudson Code Section 19-132 section 6.17 Garage, Yard, and Other Occasional sales: Garage, yard, and other occasional sales shall be limited to five (5) times per year of one (1) week duration with no more than one (1) sale per month with a minimum of one (1) week between sales.
WHAT TO DO WITH GRASS CLIPPINGS, ETC.
The City Department of Public Works crew does pick up leaves, grass clippings, limbs, etc. Grass clippings and leaves must be placed in recyclable paper bags for pickup. They will be picked up on Mondays. The only exception is, in the fall of the year leaves may be raked to the curb and will be picked up. A detailed schedule of what section of town will be picked up during a given week is placed in the Hudson Post Gazette and the Bi-County Herald prior to the pickup.

We have a volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service. There is no open burning permitted in the City of Hudson. We are very fortunate to have a community center in Hudson. The hours are Monday thru Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. The Department of Aging uses the center for the senior citizen lunch program, recreation, or just come in to visit with our Senior Citizens. If you have questions on the Department of Aging Program you should contact Gail Wetherall at 448-4605 during the hours noted above. We also rent the Community Center for parties, weddings, meetings, etc. If you have questions about this or are interested in renting the Community Center, contact City Hall at 448-8983.
PROPERTY TAXES
If you are a property owner, we have summer and winter taxes. The summer taxes are mailed approximately July 1st. and payment is due on the September 14th. The winter taxes are mailed approximately December 1st. and payment is due on February 14th.
City of Hudson Income Tax
All who live or work in the City of Hudson pay a City Income Tax. If you live in Hudson there is a 1 % tax on your gross wage. If you live outside the City but work in the City there is a ½% on your gross wage. There is a $1,000 exemption on each dependent you have. This Revenue is used each year for Capital improvements such as: Street & Sidewalk improvements, street lighting, reduction of city bond debt and utility improvements. Filing date: Your return must be filed by April 30th of each year. Penalties, as provided by law ($2.00 minimum) will be assessed on all late payments. TAKE A VISIT TO THE PARKWe have four (4) very nice parks in the City of Hudson.
Will Carleton Park located on Cadmus Road Webster’s Park located on Madison Street Thompson’s Memorial Park located on S. Church Street Memorial Park located on S. Church St.
Will Carleton Park is the largest of the three with restrooms, playgrounds, tennis court, baseball field, softball field, basketball court, volleyball court, and three pavilions. Webster’s Park has restrooms, playground, baseball field, and one pavilion. Thompson’s Memorial Park has picnic area and playground. Memorial Park has 2 large Soccer fields and 2 baseball fields. We also have a mini park at the corner of N. Church and Railroad St.

Recreation starts around the middle of June - all activities are for students’ ages 5-14 years of age. Games & Activities at Webster Park during the schedule listed below are Free of charge.
Day: Tuesdays and Thursdays Time: 12:00 noon – 2:00 P.M.
Mondays, Wednesdays and every other Friday children ages 6 - 15 are bused to Bohn Pool in Adrian for open swimming. They leave Hudson at 12:00 noon and return to Hudson around 3:00-3:45 P.M. Buses pick up the children at the Wesleyan Church on the corner of Wood and Hill St. and the Miller Site on Washington St. Cost is $2.50 per youngster. A snack bar is available so extra spending money is always helpful.
The Recreation Department sponsors an annual trip to Cedar Point dates and times are advertised in advance and the cost is approximately $30.00. Ages 8 – 15 are welcome.
Swimming lesson also can be scheduled through the recreation dept. between the middle of June and the middle of July. There is a charge for these. Further questions about this program can be answered by calling Bev Nichols at 448-8597.
Other activities: T-Ball, Softball, and Basketball.
